Mamon in unfamiliar place amid PLDT cold start in Spikers’ Turf

Odjie Mamon is a coach who is used to winning; both games and championships.

At the start of the Spikers’ Turf Reinforced Conference, however, Mamon is in an unfamiliar place with his PLDT Home Ultera team is at 0-2, resting at the bottom of the standings.

“This is an unfamiliar situation for me,” Mamon said Saturday at San Juan Arena following his team’s loss to Sta. Elena. “The conference is still within target but we can’t afford to lose a game.”

A team featuring former and current collegiate stars such as Vince Mangulabnan, Peter Torres, Mark Alfafara, and JP Torres is one to be reckoned with, but Mamon admitted the Ultra Fast Hitters still have to build their chemistry.

“That’s our main problem right now, we have to adjust and gel,” Mamon said.

Berlin Paglinawan and Mangulabnan are still in school and could not join the team’s regular practice.

“Peter, Berlin, and Vince are welcome additions but we still have to build chemistry.”
