Pagara brothers, Magsayo impress in US debuts
Their highly-anticipated US debuts didn’t last long but Mark Magsayo and the Pagara brothers made lasting impressions after outclassing respective foes in Pinoy Pride 33 at StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Jason “El Nino” Pagara decked his Nicaraguan opponent Santos Benavides thrice for a swift second-round win, Magsayo needed only one round to stop Yardleu Suarez of Mexico while “Prince” Albert Pagara disposed of William Gonzalez in six rounds to earn the WBO intercontinental featherweight title.
Article continues after this advertisementAlbert, the younger of the two, extended his undefeated run to 25-0 with 18 knockouts. Magsayo also stayed unbeaten with a 12-0, 10 KOs.
The 23-year-old Jason, meanwhile, improved his mark to 37 wins and 23 KOs against only two defeats.
