Macalalad rules Anvaya Cove SuperTrikids triathlon
Everyly Janarie Macalalad lived up to family standards as she ruled the recent 8th Anvaya Cove Beach & Nature Club SuperTriKids in Morong, Bataan.
The 12-year-old Macalalad, younger sister of national junior team member Edward Jared, captured the crown in the 300m swim-4K bike-2K run race with a time of 19 minutes and 44 seconds.
Macalalad even wound up faster than her 11-12 age category counterpart Clifford Pusing, who bagged the boys’ title with a 20:31 clocking.
Article continues after this advertisementA sixth grade student at Colegio San Agustin in Biñan, Laguna, Macalalad finished way ahead of runners-up Alison Ann Noble (20:58) and Erica Maive Bulatao (22:53).
Samuel Compton (20:59) checked in second to Pusing, followed by Daniel Nazarro (21:20).
In the 200m swim-2K bike-1K run event, Mark Grist (11:11) won over brothers Jose Maria (12:18) and Juan Miguel Tayag (12:20) to cop the boys’ 9-10 crown, while Ariel Feuermann (13:29) clinched the girls’ title.
