HONG KONG—Angelo Que managed a two-ver-par 72 on Thursday and lay eight strokes behind joint leaders Lu Wei-chih of Chinese Taipei and Andrea Pavan of Italy who shot identical 64s after the first round of the $2-million UBS Hong Kong Open.

The two other Filipinos in the tournament fared even worse. Miguel Tabuena carded a 73 while Antonio Lascuña struggled to a 76 and would need a truly low card Friday to make the halfway cut.

Que, a three-time winner on the Asian Tour, shot nines of 35-37 littered with three bogeys and a solitary birdie on the fourth hole.
