AFP keeps clean slate; Senate, NHA share 2nd

ARMED Forces of the Philippines whipped House of Representatives, 111-98, to stay unscathed in Group B of the 4th UNTV Cup held over the weekend at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Former PBA player Boyet Bautista and Joel Jabar led the Cavaliers’ well-balanced attack by scoring 17 and 16 points, respectively, most of them in the first quarter where they led, 30-22.

The Cavaliers extended their winning streak to four while handing the Solons their second loss in three starts in the tournament organized by UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon.

In Group A matches, Senate snapped a two-game skid with a 72-67 win over Government Service Insurance System while National Housing Authority trounced Malacañang, 90-78.

Senate and NHA forged a three-way tie for second with similar 2-2 records behind Philippine National Police’s 3-1 mark.

The Senate Defenders hardly felt the absence of playing-coach Kenneth Duremdes as Emmanuel Baltazar and Marlon Legaspi erupted for 29 and 15 points, respectively.

The duo also combined for 22 boards.
