CIGNAL will try to bounce back from a stinging defeat while Petron hopes to cash in on its previous win when they run against separate rivals in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix women’s volleyball today at The Arena in San Juan.
The teams collided in a long, protracted battle late Tuesday with the Blaze Spikers scoring a thrilling 25-16, 14-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-13 over the erstwhile unbeaten HD Spikers.
“We want to ride on this big win,” said Petron coach George Pascua who lauded his team for showing strong character in pulling off the victory.
That spells trouble for struggling RC Cola, which faces Petron at 6:15 p.m., as the Raiders are downward trajectory with a four-game losing streak.
The Tornadoes test their newfound confidence against the HD Spikers, who are expected to come out strong after their defeat.
“We win together, we lose together,” tweeted Cignal’s high-scoring import Ariel Usher, a day after the HD Spikers absorbed their first defeat after sweeping the five games in the first round of eliminations.
