Philippine Christian University surprised inaugural tournament champion Sta. Lucia Land, 97-91, for its first win in the 5th DELeague basketball on Tuesday at Marikina Sports Center.
The Realtors dominated the first quarter but the Dolphins wrested the upperhand in the second quarter, 39-38, and never looked back. They increased the lead to 13 in the third period, 72-59, and held on despite the Realtors closing in at 89-85 in the final 1:57.
Chris Malto led the Dolphins with 24 points and Fidel Castro added 23 points—including four three-pointers in the third quarter.
In the other game, Macway Travel whipped Philippine National Police-Quick Print, 96-69.
Paul Santiago scored 22 points to lead the Macway Stallions to their second win.
