Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle found their sweet spot in the fourth quarter and GlobalPort nailed its first win in the 2016 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup after turning back Star, 101-94 Friday, at Mall of Asia Arena.

Pringle, the reigning Rookie of the Year, topped the Batang Pier with 23 points on a 3-of-5 shooting from threes that went with four rebounds and five assists.

Gilas spitfire Romeo, meanwhile, had 13 of his 20 markers in the second half.

“Nakapagadjust naman yung team at mga players,” said GlobalPort coach Pido Jarencio, whose wards played their first game in Manila after their out-of-town game in Davao.

“Na-push yung panic button na di kami pwede maging 0-2. Kailangan every game, manalo ka.”

Doug Kramer got 14 points and 10 boards even as Jay Washington also tallied a double-double with 10 markers and 13 rebounds.

The Batang Pier broke free in the fourth quarter, using a 17-2 tear to take a 16-point lead, 91-75, midway in the payoff period.

Mark Barroca and Peter June Simon tried to bring the Hotshots back in the game, but Star ran out of time as it fell to its second game in three tries.

Marc Pingris led Star with 14 points and seven rebounds.
