The Philippine Superliga is bracing for a bumper harvest of talented players from the collegiate league as it revealed its hectic calendar for the 2016 season.
PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara said the season will start early with the Invitational Cup where club teams compete with a guest team from Japan. It will also have the usual All Filipino Conference by June before the import-laden Grand Prix in October.
In between, the premier club league will also have beach volleyball tourney in the summer months and in December.
“Due to our success this year, we have decided to treat fans to a year-round of intense volleyball action,” said Suzara.
He added that the league continues to grow with more corporations expressing desire to put up teams.
The growth is expected to stem from the influx of collegiate superstars who are expected to graduate next year including Ateneo’s Alyssa Valdez, La Salle’s Ara Galang, Mika Reyes and Cyd Demecillo, and UP’s Nicole Tiamzon and Kathy Bersola.
Also expected to transfer to the next level in their playing careers are University of Santo Tomas’ Carmela Tunay, Pam Lastimosa and Jessey de Leon.
