Newly minted NCAA champion Letran is leaving no stones unturned as the Knights begin their preparation for their title retention bid this month.
Letran assistant coach Louie Gonzales said that training camp for Season 92 will begin not even a month after the Knights captured the NCAA championship.
“We immediately set standards in Aldin (Ayo)’s first year,” he said in the weekly PSA Forum at Shakey’s Malate on Tuesday. “As early as the second week of November, we’ll prepare for the next season.”
Though there are still no concrete plans on whether they will be joining other leagues in the offseason, Gonzales said that the team is open to all possibilities.
“We’re waiting for an opportunity in joining other leagues. We’re open to that,” he said.
Last offseason, the Knights saw action in the PBA D-League under MP Hotel, which Ayo said gave some of their role players the exposure they needed to step up this year.
Despite losing leaders Mark Cruz and Kevin Racal, Letran will still be a formidable squad next year, as Gonzales expressed the team’s confidence with its future.
Rey Nambatac, Jomari Sollano, and Mcjour Luib will be tasked to carry the Knights, together with upstarts from the school’s Team B.
“It’s hard to get to the top, but it’s harder to stay at the top,” said Gonzales.
