Philippine Air Force seeks to extend its unbeaten start against Sta. Elena while Cignal, Navy and PLDT try to boost their semifinal bids at the resumption of the Spikers’ Turf Season I Reinforced Conference today at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Airmen gun for a fourth straight win as they face a dangerous Sta. Elena squad at 1 p.m. before PLDT and Navy tangle in an equally important clash at 3 p.m.
Cignal looks to keep second spot as the HD Spikers battle Instituto Estetico Manila at 5 p.m.
The Airmen dominated the Navy Sailors in straight sets last Oct. 25 but Air Force coach Rhovyl Verayo expects an even better performance from his team.
“Our teamwork has been helping us a lot and if we continue playing the way we do, we’ll have a chance,” said Verayo.
Air Force boasts an experienced crew led by Reyson Fuentes, Rodolfo Labrador, Jeffry Malabanan, Ruben Inaudito, Alnakran Abdilla and Jessie Lopez, who leads the league with 10.38 successful sets per frame.
Sta. Elena tries to counter with Alnasip Laja, Rocky Honrade, Myco Antonio, Nestor Molate and Ace Andani as the Wrecking Balls aim to bounce back from a defeat to Cignal last Oct. 24.
The HD Spikers are looking for a third win in four games against IEM which is trying to pump life into its sputtering campaign. IEM lost its first two games in the tournament backed by PLDT Home Ultera.
