Lady Bulldogs set sights on 11th straight victory

Early  semifinalists National University and De La Salle aim to strengthen their 1-2 positions while University of the Philippines seeks to extend its winning run to four games in the UAAP Season 78 women’s basketball tournament Wednesday at Blue Eagle gym.

The defending champion Lady Bulldogs shoot for an 11th straight win against the Ateneo Lady Eagles at 11 a.m. while the second-running Lady Archers try to extend their winning run to 10 games in their 3 p.m. duel with the Adamson University Lady Falcons.

The Lady Maroons will take on the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses at 9 a.m., followed by the University of the East-Far Eastern U clash at 1 p.m.

The quadruple-header was supposed to be played last Oct. 18 but was called off due to Typhoon “Lando.”

UP is on three-game run, a marked improvement after a 25-game losing skid which spanned three seasons.

Tied with the Lady Falcons in sixth place at 3-7, the Lady Maroons are trailing joint fourth placers Lady Eagles and Lady Warriors (4-6) by just a game in the race for the last two semifinal slots.

Unbeaten NU, meanwhile, is on course for an outright championship berth while La Salle, with a 9-1 card, is eyeing a twice-to-beat incentive in the Final Four.
