‘Bad game’ leaves UST searching for answers after loss to UE

University of Santo Tomas head coach Bong dela Cruz offered no excuses after the Growling Tigers blew a chance to lock up a twice-to-beat edge following a loss to University of the East on Wednesday.

“We can’t make alibis,” De La Cruz said, whose team has now lost two of its last three games. “It’s a bad game for us and UE played extremely well.”

UE held UST to a disastrous 39 percent shooting while the Red Warriors converted 46 percent of their shots.

The Red Warriors also dominated the rebounding department, 47-38, and confused the Tigers’ defense with their ball movement that led to 24 assists.

“We just couldn’t find any answers for their full-court press,” De La Cruz said. “They played extremely well we couldn’t execute.”
