Petron dimmed the lights on Meralco with a straight set beating, 27-25, 25-20, 25-21, Thursday at San Juan Arena to secure a Final Four spot in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix.

Liis Kullerkaan’s sealed the victory for the Blaze Spikers and ended the semifinal hopes for her own Power Spikers with an erroneous service.

Petron improved to 6-2 good for first seed while Meralco remained winless in six games.

Blaze Spikers head coach George Pascua knew playing against a winless team would be a tough outing with the Power Spikers fighting for dear life.

“Even if they are still winless, we know they have nothing to lose,” Pascua said. “Winless or not I told the team they should treat every game as if it was a championship game.”

It was another Meralco error that gave Petron the 24-20 match point when Christina Alessi’s service was also counted as an error.

“I know if they relaxed against any team, that’s bad attitude,” Pascua said.

Rupia Furtado led Petron with 16 points while Dindin Santiago-Manabat added 12.

Alessi led Meralco with 11 points.
