More cash ‘will lure Mayweather out of retirement’

Oodles of money will eventually open the door for a rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach predicted on Wednesday.

Pacquiao’s trainer made the prediction despite Mayweather’s insistence that he has no plans of coming out of retirement to fight again.

Roach may have taken a hint from Pacquiao, who said last week that he’s open to a rematch with Mayweather after losing to the undefeated American by unanimous decision last May.

“If Manny fights a good fighter, looks good, has no shoulder injury, I think Floyd Mayweather and him will go one more time. Too much money,” Roach told LA Times’ Lance Pugmire, who tweeted it. “They’re not going to let that go, I feel.”

Mayweather, however, has excluded himself from Pacquiao’s list of probable opponents on April 9 next year.

With Mayweather holding back, Pacquiao is looking at other options, like Briton Amir Khan, Terence Crawford and Danny Garcia.

Though Arum admitted that talks are ongoing with Team Khan, the 83-year-old lawyer said he’s leaving it to Pacquiao to choose his next foe.

Arum might also relent to Pacquiao’s request to stage what could probably be his last fight in the Philippines or in the United Arab Emirates.

Pacquiao, who is in Dubai with his PBA team Mahindra, told reporters Thursday that Dubai isn’t out of the equation yet.

“I can’t guarantee you now. But yes, there is a very good chance that my next fight will be in Dubai next year,” he said.
