Cagayan Valley upset erstwhile unbeaten Caida Tiles while Jumbo Plastic continued its winning run in Thursday’s double header of the PCBL Founders Cup at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Mark Brana delivered 12 points, including a crucial jumper in the last 28.9 seconds, to lift the Rising Suns to an 81-77 triumph and hand the Tile Masters their first loss in six games.
Brana scored 11 of his total output in the second half.
Jumbo Plastic coasted to its fifth straight win after a 76-63 victory over Sta. Lucia in the first game.
Mark Lopez fired seven of his 15 points in the final quarter as Jumbo Plastic outscored Sta. Lucia, 23-13.
Lopez also teamed up with ex-pro Marcy Arellano and John Lopez in a 13-0 run that enabled Jumbo to pull away, 74-61, entering the final two minutes.
Jumbo thus forged a tie with Caida Tiles on top with a 5-1 record.
