The Philippines have a lot of ground to make up in the Asia Rugby Olympic Sevens after finishing Day One of the qualifiers in fourth place Saturday at Hong Kong Stadium.

The Volcanoes only managed to amass five points in their first three games.

Malaysia was the first to extinguish the Volcanoes’ fire winning with a slim 15-10 margin, then it was Hong Kong’s turn as the hosts took it up a notch with a 29-0 victory.

The Volcanoes, however, unleashed its pent-up fury on Iran with a 38-10 whipping.

With opening day in the books, the Volcanoes have a -6 scoring margin in Group B while group leader Hong Kong is on top with a 3-0 record and a +90 scoring margin.
