Lim, Korean pal top Asia Oceania junior doubles
Sixteen-year-oldFilipino tennis hotshot Albert Lim Jr. teamed up with Korean partner Oh Chan-yeong Sunday to win the boys’ doubles title of the Grade B1 Seogwipo Asia Oceania junior championships in South Korea.
The dengue-stricken Lim missed playing in two Philippine Futures meet in what would have been his pro debut but made up for it by also making the singles quarterfinals.
Lim and Oh upended top seeds Chung Yung-seong of Korea and Wu Tung-in of Chinese Taipei, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, in the final of the top-tier meet next only to the Grand Slams and Grade A events. Incidentally, Lim bowed to Oh, 6-2, 6-0, in the singles quarterfinals.
Lim also boosted his world ranking to an all-time high of 24th in juniors.
