Three share Shakey’s V-L top player honors
Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Carmina Aganon and Sarah Jane Gonzales powered their respective teams to victory and got the recognition they deserved in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12-Reinforced Conference.
Pontillas guided PLDT Home Ultera to the semifinals with a 25-20, 20-25, 25-13, 25-13 win over Navy recently at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
The 22-year-old Aganon, the family breadwinner since her college days at National University, also tallied 15 points along with Pontillas, helping Kia Forte pick up its first win after four games following a 25-22, 19-25, 25-15, 25-19 decision over University of the Philippines.
Article continues after this advertisementPontillas and Aganon shared the league’s Player of the Game honors during their respective matches along with Gonzales, who grabbed the chance to shine after Army coach Kungfu Reyes benched starter Tina Salak.
Gonzales, a prized find from Biñan, Laguna, set up the Lady Troopers’ victory over the Philippine Coast Guard Lady Dolphins, 25-4, 25-12, 33-31, over the weekend.
“I’m privileged to be playing with teammates who keep supporting and encouraging me,” said Gonzales, a league pioneer who played for Lyceum.

“I have more reason now to play better in the commercial league. My son, AJ, is the driving force behind my determination to excel in my career,” said the 5-foot-10 middle attacker from Passi City, Iloilo.
