Bobby Ray Parks Jr. was the first local-born Filipino player to crack the final lineup of an NBA D-League team and on Saturday (Manila time) the Fil-American guard had another breakthrough after playing in his first game.

Parks was selected by the Texas Legends, an affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA, as the 25th overall in the D-League Draft held early in the month.

The 22-year-old Parks played for 10 minutes but wasn’t able to make the most out of his debut with zero points on 0-of-2 shooting from the field, two fouls and one turnover in the Legends’ 106-81 to the Austin Spurs in both teams’ opener.

The former two-time UAAP MVP out of National University was undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft last June before playing for the Mavericks in the NBA Summer League where he failed to make the franchise’s final roster.

Parks, son of the late seven-time PBA Best Import Bobby, and the Legends hope to bounce back against the Oklahoma City Blue on Monday.
