The new girls of PLDT Home Ultera got a sweet welcome as they joined the Ultra Fast Hitters for their first practice with the team.
Reinforcements Sareea Freeman and Victoria Hurtt’s arrival was a cause of celebration for PDLT with the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference nearing the Final Four, and that usually calls for cake.
“We’re having fun here,” the 24-year-old Freeman said Saturday at San Juan Arena. “The most fun experience was our first day of training, they gave us cake!”
Freeman and Hurtt arrived in the Philippines Wednesday midnight as late additions to PLDT and the duo immediately paid dividends as they led the Ultra Fast Hitters past Kia in four sets to lock the twice-to-beat advantage.
Hurtt, the 23-year-old from Iowa State, made a grand entrance as she scored 21 points while Freeman, who played for Florida State, added 15.
“It was good, the girls are really nice and they opened up to us and welcomed us.”
