Duremdes leads Senate to victory

Former PBA MVP Kenneth Duremdes exploded for 12 points in the payoff period to lead Senate to a come-from-behind 72-71 win over Philippine National Police at the close of the first round eliminations in the 4th UNTV Cup held over the weekend at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The PNP Responders led by 10 points going into the final quarter until Duremdes waxed hot, making all but one of his six attempts to snatch the win in their Group A encounter.

Duremdes finished with 23 points, five rebounds and a steal as Senate forged a four-way tie for Group A lead with PNP, Malacañang and National Housing Authority at 3-2.

Duremdes, the team’s playing-coach, was ably supported by Marlon Legaspi with 18 points while Senator Sonny Angara chipped in five points.

Former University of the East player Ollan Omiping led PNP with 20 points.
