Wushu fighters enter world finals

Sanda fighters Divine Wally of Baguio City and Hergie Bacyadan of Kalinga, Apayao, barged into the finals of the ongoing 13th World Wushu Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 19-year-old Wally, a product of the 2012 Philippine National Games, beat Korean Bokyeong Byeon in a 52-kg semifinal scrap.

Assured already of her first ever podium finish on her maiden appearance on foreign soil, Bacyadan, 21, bested Egyptian Walaa Mossa in a 65kg round-of-four tussle.

Wally, 2013 SEA Games and Asian Junior Championships silver medalist, will clash with Vietnamese Luan Thi Hoang for the gold medal.

Bacyadan will go up an underdog against Iranian Sharbano Manyouran Semiromi in her quest for the top plum.

At presstime, the other Team Philippines semifinalists—Francisco Solis and Arnel Mandal—have yet to see action in the 60kg and 52kg division, respectively.
