SAN ANTONIO, United States — San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili, who helped the club win four NBA titles, will miss at least the next two games with bilateral hip tightness, the Spurs announced Wednesday.
The 38-year-old shooting guard is averaging 11.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals over nine games this season for the Spurs.
The Spurs will be without the South American standout for Wednesday’s home game against Denver and a Friday contest at New Orleans
Team doctors will re-evaluate Ginobili before San Antonio’s game Saturday against Memphis.
The Spurs lead the Southwest division at 8-2, the second-best record in the NBA behind the unbeaten defending champion Golden State Warriors at 12-0.
Ginobili was part of Spurs’ NBA championship clubs in 2003, 205, 2007 and 2014. He also sparked Argentina to Olympic gold at the 2004 Athens Games and a runner-up finish at the 2002 World Championships before joining the Spurs for the 2002-2003 season.
