Forest Hills bested its rivals in the concluding greensome format and nailed its first WGAP (Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines) Cup victory with a two-point buffer over Sta. Elena at Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite, recently.
Clinging to a half-point lead over Camp Aguinaldo after the high-low at Summit Point and best ball at Southlinks, Forest Hills scored three points in the greensome for Classes A and C players for a winning eight-point total in the event organized by WGAP and presented by Champion Infinity.
Sta. Elena collected two points to grab second place with six points while reigning WGAP Circuit winner Alabang also posted two points and wound up tied for third with Aguinaldo, which struggled with a lone point, at 5.5.
Tagaytay Highlands fell short of its fightback bid, settling for two points and ending up last in the five-team field with five points. Tagaytay had ruled the annual event for a record four straight time last year.
Jane Magada and Corazon Sy powered Forest Hills to a 5-and-4 triumph over Alabang’s Marilyn Reyes and Tess Yap before Nelda Roguel and Evelyn Alcantara nipped Sta. Elena’s Carina Ricamonte and Gia Suarez, 2 and 1. Tess Staub and Beatrice Ann Que capped the Antipolo squad’s romp with a 4-and-3 win over Aguinaldo’s Mabel Salivio and Hazel Gabud.
