Bojana Todorovic looked calm with a smile on her face.
It didn’t seem like she was just coming off a tough loss that would keep her sleepless Thursday night.
Todorovic’s Philips Gold, ranked number one in the Final Four, crashed out of the Finals race after coming up short against Foton in the semifinals of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix, 18-25, 24-26, 25-18, 25-20, 8-15.
“We could’ve had it, that’s the tough part about it,” Todorovic said after she willed a failed comeback. “If you’re not upset, you’re not a true competitor.”
“This shouldn’t have reached five sets. We should’ve taken care of it in the first and second.”
Todorovic looked almost cherubic, but she admitted every emotion an athlete could experience was concealed inside her.
“Sadness, anger, disappointment are emotions to learn from, these are not negative ones.”
With a roaring comeback bid in the third and fourth sets, momentum was all in the side of Philips Gold but was immediately treated to a 1-6 start, something they did not recover from.
Making matters worse, Todorovic met a Jaja Santiago in the air with the youngster from Foton scoring a block for a 13-6 line for the Tornadoes.
Todorovic knows she can do better in a game that would settle a medal, a bronze one.
“I always think I can do better, and that what makes me so competitive,” Todorovic said.
