Philips Gold, Cignal battle for Superliga third place

Stung by their similar semifinal defeats, Philips Gold and Cignal go back into action to fight for third place Saturday in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix women’s volleyball at Imus Sports Center in Imus, Cavite.

The Lady Slammers and the HD Spikers will dispute a podium finish at 1 p.m.

RC Cola-Air Force and Meralco will collide for fifth place in the other match.

Philips Gold coach Francis Vicente said they will put their heart-breaking 18-25, 24-26, 25-18, 25-20, 8-15 loss to Foton last Thursday behind them as they aspire to finish the conference on a bright note.

“Life must go on. We just have to get ourselves ready for the battle for third,” said Vicente.

The country’s fast rising club league is presented by Asics and backed by Milo, Senoh, Mueller and Mikasa, with TV5 as official broadcaster.  Marc Anthony Reyes
