Euro-Med, Supermo Lex trip PCBL foes

Euro-Med and Supremo Lex carved out contrasting victories on Friday night at the Filoil Flying V Arena and made the race for the top four of the PCBL Founders Cup more exciting.

Behind the big games of Mar Villahermosa and the timely explosion of Paul Zamar and Jopher Custodio, Euro-Med blasted Cagayan Valley, 77-63, to keep its top four hopes alive.

Snubbed in the 2013 PBA Rookie Draft, Villahermosa is making his mark with Euro-Med. He had yet another solid game for his team, finishing with 21 points and steering his squad to its fifth win in nine games to forge a tie for second to fourth places with Sta. Lucia and Jumbo Plastic Linoleum.

Zamar, son of former national team and ex-University of the East coach Boyzie Zamar, added 13 markers, including three triples that enabled Euro-Med to break the game wide open.

Custodio, picked in the fourth round by GlobalPort in the 2013 Rookie Draft, added 12 markers.

Supremo Lex wielded the upset ax on Jumbo Plastic Linoluem, 69-62. It was the third straight loss suffered by the Linoleum Giants after winning five in a row while the Builders continued to improve, winning two of their last three games.

Teytey Teodoro and Chris Bitoon torched the hoop, combining for 10 of the total 11 treys made by the Builders.

Both guards combined for 37 points as Supremo Lex picked up its third win in nine games.
