Army dominates Navy, arranges finals duel with PLDT

Philippine Army wasted no time in booking another trip to the finals of the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference after dominating Philippine Navy,  25-16, 25-10, 25-22, Saturday at San Juan Arena.

Jovelyn Gonzaga sealed Army’s victory after denying Florence Madulid’s front row attack as the Lady Troopers set up a final against PLDT Home Ultera.

Army head coach Kung Fu Reyes said the match was pretty much in their bag, although a few hiccups in the third set were needed to be addressed.

“We had a pretty good game, we were receiving their attacks,” Reyes said whose team is 6-0 in the conference. “There were mistakes in the third set even though we changed personnel, that should not happen.”

“We will be ready, we will prepare,” Reyes said of his team’s finals clash with PLDT, which blanked University of the Philippines, 25-11, 25-17, 25-17, earlier.

Gonzaga led the Lady Troopers with 10 points while Honey Royse Tubino added eight.

Madulid had a game-high 14 points for the Lady Sailors who will have a bronze medal match against University of the Philippines.
