PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee first vice president Joey Romasanta will be wearing two hats as the country’s volleyball chieftain.
Romasanta, president of the Larong Volleyball Sa Pilipinas Inc., was recently elected to the 21-member Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Board of Administration during the federation’s general assembly in Riyadh.
“It’s an honor for the Philippines to be a part of the Board,” said Romasanta, one of only three board members from Southeast Asia. “It will further boost interest in the sport and strengthen our ties with the AVC and the FIVB (International Volleyball Federation).”
LVPI vice president Peter Cayco (NCAA), LVPI secretary general Ricky Palou (Shakey’s
V-League) and Philippine SuperLiga president Tats Suzara also attended the assembly.
The AVC, volleyball’s governing body in the continent under the FIVB, has 65 member-countries including nations in the Oceania territory such as Australia and New Zealand.
Romasanta said Suzara was again installed AVC sports development and marketing committee chair during the convention.
“We’ve been receiving offers to bring more international tournaments here,” he added.
