Pateros grabs 3rd FBA win; Foton falls
JAWHAR Purdy sustained his sizzling form to propel Pateros Austen Morris Associates past Malolos Mighty Bulsu, 98-89, for its third straight victory Saturday night in the Filsports Basketball Association (FBA) Second Conference at Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan.
On a day when leaders Pampanga Foton and Manila NU MFT suffered their second losses in seven outings, Purdy grabbed the limelight with 25 points, joining forces with Chris Cofield who finished with 22 points in leading the Associates to their third win in seven games that also kept them in the semifinal hunt.
The Associates also drew a superb outing from playing-coach Nic Belasco, who had 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
Article continues after this advertisementIn other games, Marikina Wangs stunned Manila NU-MFT, 84-79, while Quezon City UP Fighting Maroons coasted to a 91-81 over Pampanga.
The results forged a three-way tie for third spot among Pateros, Marikina and QC.
Cedric Labing-isa fired 21 points and dished out seven assists for Wangs.
