MANILA, Philippines – Allan Cuartero exacted revenge on rising pool star Carlo Biado to bag the 2011 BSCP National Pool Championship 10-ball division title Tuesday.
It was the 42-year-old Cuartero’s first major pool title on Philippine soil which he earned through a quick 11-2 victory over the 27-year-old Biado, who defeated him, 3-9, in the 8-ball finals Sunday.
Chalking up the first five points, Cuartero, who is based in Kuwait, leaned on the momentum and would never relinquish the lead to win the P50, 000 prize.
Cuartero, pouncing on Biado’s surprising inconsistency, pulled off five straight points anew to go over the hill, 10-1.
Biado, who lost two in a row following Monday’s defeat in the 9-ball finals to World no. 1 Dennis Orcollo, just couldn’t get his bearings going all throughout the match.
Feeling the fatigue, Biado could only summon a point, 5-1, to break Cuartero’s streak – but only momentarily.
“I couldn’t get the momentum going and my aura wasn’t right,” said Biado, who played in all three finals of the nine-day event which dangles outright berths to the WPA World Pool Summit in November.
