Philippine Azkals lead Nepal, 2-0
MANILA, Philippines – Brothers Phil and James Younghusband scored a goal each for the Philippine Azkals to give the country a 2-0 lead against Nepal Tuesday in a Fifa-sanctioned friendly at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
James Younghusband connected on a long shot in the 28th minute after his brother Phil scored the first goal, latching on to a pass from Fil-Dutch Paul Mulders.
In just the first ten minutes, the Philippines, coming off a 0-2 loss to Singapore, had several scoring chances.
Chieffy Caligdong’s goal wide open shot sailed wide in the eigth minute, while Ian Araneta’s attempt off a pass from James Younghusband was thwarted by the Nepalese keeper.
