THE PHILIPPINE Football Federation has sent coaches to the United States to scout for fresh talents who can beef up the national women’s team in future tournaments.
PFF general secretary Ed Gastanes said technical director and former men’s team coach Aris Caslib and current women’s team mentor Buda Bautista are spearheading the “scouting mission” along with ex-women’s team coach Ernie Nierras.
The United States has been a rich source of talent with players having Filipino lineage beefing up the squad in past tournaments, including Joanna Houplin who plays for Seattle Sounders women in the US second division.
“Our goal is to qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup,” said Nierras.
