CEBU CITY—Raven Faith Alcoseba struck for two gold medals as the host province made a big splash in the pool at the start of the 2015 POC-PSC Batang Pinoy National Finals here Friday.
The 13-year-old from Talisay City topped the girls’ 13-15 100-meter freestyle in two minutes and 30.42 seconds after winning the girls’ 13-15 400m free by a slim margin.
Alcoseba, who shattered the Palarong Pambansa elementary record in the 200m individual medley early this year, clocked 4:50.19, just a split second ahead of Manila’s Imee Joyce Saavedra (4:50.90). Bela Louise Magtibay of Lucena City was third in 4:57.51.
“I just do my best every time I swim,” said Alcoseba, the most outstanding athlete in the Milo Little Olympics national finals held last month in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. “I want to swim for the national team.”
In the 100 free, Alcoseba touched the wall in 2:30.42 followed by Dara Carreon of San Juan (2:31.36) and Robin Luise Tolentino of Lipa City (2:36.72).
Aubrey Sheian Bermejo of Iligan City duplicated Alcoseba’s double-gold feat in the girls’ 12-under 400 free and 100 free.
