GlobalPort leaned on a collective effort to beat Blackwater, 120-105, in the 2016 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Terrence Romeo led the rout with 26 points while Stanley Pringle added an all-around performance of 17 points, six rebounds, six dimes, and a steal as the Batang Pier snapped a two-game skid and improved to 4-3.

GlobalPort’s offensive output are the second-most points scored by any team this conference. The Alaska Aces scored 123 points in a victory over the Batang Pier on Nov. 20.

Doug Kramer posted a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds, Joseph Yeo got 14 markers, and Rico Maierhofer also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards for GlobalPort.

“It’s a total team effort. Our standing is 50-50 and we really needed to win to climb up the standings,” said coach Pido Jarencio in Filipino as the Batang Pier notched their first win at the Big Dome. “We’re not targeting to be No. 1 or No. 2 what’s important is to play one game at a time to finish within the third and sixth spots to get a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs.”

Aside from Lastimosa’s career night, Blackwater also saw significant contributions from Raphy Reyes, who had 16 points while Reil Cervantes and Jerick Canada scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Elite, though, still weren’t able to match the Batang Pier’s firepower and fell to 1-6 in the standings.
