Thailand eased past Philippines-A, 21-11, 21-9, in the inaugural Spike for Peace International beach volleyball tournament Sunday at Philsports Arena.
Charo Soriano’s final attack went long, awarding the Thais a 1-0 record in Group D while the Filipinos fell to 0-1.
Both Soriano and Alexa Micek did not score in double figures as they only managed seven and six points, respectively.
“We’re thinking of this loss as a lesson,” Soriano said. “Think of positives that we can get.”
Tanarattha Udomchavee led the Thai duo as she finished with 17 points while her partner Varapatsorn Radarong had 11.
