Petron beats Foton, forges Game 3 for PSL title
Petron displayed championship poise amid a determined Foton side to prevail, 25-13, 25-21, 23-25, 26-24, Monday night and force a deciding Game 3 in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix women’s volleyball championship at the jampacked Cuneta Astrodome.
Brazilian open hitter Rupia Inck banged in 25 points to lead the Blaze Spikers in the thrilling match that brought them back in the series after losing Game 1 last week.
Article continues after this advertisementDindin Manabat and Aby Marano also stepped up with 16 points each for Petron which unlike in Game 1 held on to its guns from the start to finish.
“We are not going to let this slip away,” said Petron coach George Pascua whose charges successfully contained Jaja Santiago at the middle and limited her to just 11 points.
Lindsay Stalzer added 23 for Foton, while Katie Messing added 11. Game 3 is slated on Saturday at 1 p.m. also at Astrodome.
