TWO big men could emerge as the top picks in the 2015 PBA D-League Rookie Draft Tuesday at PBA Cafe in Metrowalk, Pasig.
Racal-KeraMix intends to make La Salle’s Jason Perkins as the No. 1 choice, while AMA Computer looks to select Ateneo’s Alfonso Gotladera second overall.
“We need a big man,” said Racal-KeraMix coach Caloy Garcia, adding that the team sees a gem in Perkins, the hefty Filipino-American who played a key role in the Green Archers’ UAAP title run two years ago.
Although AMA continues to check out other Draft hopefuls, coach Mark Herrera said the 6-6 Gotladera tops his list.
“We are on the lookout for a big man who could take the place of (Dexter) Maiquez and provide JR Tagañas help inside,” said Herrera.
The Draft, set at 2 p.m., drew a record 215 aspirants, including 26 foreign players with Filipino roots.
Other potential top picks: Fil-Am Avery Scharer, Ateneo’s Von Pessumal, Far Eastern University’s Richard Escoto, La Salle’s Julian Sargent, Arellano’s Zach Nicholls, Mapua’s CJ Isit, Adamson’s Joseph Nalos, Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Francis Munsayac, Fil-Canadian Taylor Witherell.
