Fading Falcons hitch fortunes on Pumaren
FRANZ Pumaren looks all set for a collegiate comeback as Adamson tapped the champion mentor yesterday to turn the Falcons’ fortunes around in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament.
Pumaren, who won five championship in 12 seasons with La Salle, takes over an Adamson squad that struggled with a 3-11 record under coach Mike Fermin.
Although Adamson has yet to issue an official statement, a public relations firm sent out media invites yesterday for a press conference on the school campus where Pumaren will be introduced as the new coach.
Pumaren had a remarkable run with the Green Archers for over a decade, before jumping to the pro league to call the shots for Shopinas/Air21 from 2011 to 2014.
A rookie mentor in 1998, Pumaren steered the Archers to the crown on his debut run, which kicked off a four-year reign. He led them to another title in 2007.
