HO TRAM, Vietnam—Juvic Pagunsan fired a 5-under-par 66 to trail Korea’s Charlie Wi by just four shots at the start of the inaugural $1.5-million Ho Tram Open on Thursday.
Antonio Lascuña was a stroke farther at 67, Miguel Tabuena submitted a 70 and Angelo Que had a 73.
The 43-year-old Wi rolled back the years to establish a course record of nine-under-par 62 for a two-shot lead at The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip course.
Thai duo Danthai Boonma and 18-time Asian Tour champion Thaworn Wiratchant, both with 64s, are in second place.
“It was challenging. But if you hit it good, the course is gettable. The pins were not really tough today. Definitely happy with five under,” said Pagunsan, who was bunched with 10 others. Asian Tour News
