Celebration rang around Lindsay Stalzer as her teammates showered each other with champagne right after Foton took down giant Petron for the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix crown.

Her Tornadoes just completed a Cinderella run against the vaunted Blaze Spikers in a finals match up many did not expect with Foton being the no. 4 squad.

Stalzer and company, however, proved underdogs make the best stories in the world of sports.

“We’re all Cinderellas right now,” Stalzer said, her bubbly persona so persistent in the champagne-soaked dugout.

Foton, the fourth seed in the Grand Prix, took down first seed Philips Gold in the semifinals then overcame two-time champion Petron for the title in Game 3 of the Finals, 25-18, 25-18, 25-17.

Stalzer said completing the fairy tale was “such a relief” after losing Game 13-25, 21-25, 25-23, 24-26.

“I wasn’t sure how this day was gonna go after the second match, but I knew we can take care of business,” Stalzer said. “Our team has such big hearts, so we’re all Cinderellas right now.”
