Needing a fresh eye in hopes of making a run in the playoffs, Star coach Jason Webb has enlisted the services of Juno Sauler to join his coaching staff.

Webb is hoping Sauler could provide a different perspective for Star, from outside looking in.

“Being a guy who wasn’t there from the start, he would be able to give new inputs to us from the stuff that we’re doing, to polish things,” he said.

Sauler is fresh from a three-year run with La Salle in the UAAP, where he led the Green Archers to a title back in 2013. He joined the Star bench just this week.

Webb will be relying on Sauler to improve the Hotshots’ sputtering defense, as the team has been allowing 94.5 points per outing and has been hauling down 46.9 rebounds per game, second-worst in the league.

“Pag matagal mo na kasing tinitignan yung team, you need a fresh set of eyes to see it. We need someone who comes in with a new opinion and he’ll be very helpful on that front,” he said.

Webb also sees Sauler as a perfect for Star, as the latter has been a longtime assistant in the SMC umbrella, formerly with Ginebra.

He said, “We’ve been looking for that assistant and we’ve been keeping that position open since the start of the year. We finally found our guy.”
