It was some sort of redemption for San Beda as it feasted on a lackadaisical Letran, 94-72, to become the first of two champions in the 2015 National Collegiate Championship Thursday at San Juan Arena.

It was a virtual no-contest as the Red Lions, who also became back-to-back titlist, immediately pounced to a 26-12 first quarter lead never looked back on the downed defending NCAA champions.

The organizers have decided to cut short the tournament and have the semifinals victor share the crown after Typhoon “Nona” wiped out Wednesday’s games.

Rookie Davon Potts, who was named to the Mythical five of the San Beda-Letran series, was the only Red Lion to finish in double digits with 11 points to go along seven rebounds.

It was a well-balanced offensive output for San Beda as seven of its players finished with nine points.

Jeric Balanza, another member of the mythical team, led Letran with 15 points while fellow mythical team member Rey Nambatac had 10.

Red Lions Donald Tankoua and Robert Bolick rounded out the top five.

The Knights missed the services of graduates Mark Cruz and Kevin Racal.
