Consider Adrien Broner as a possible opponent for Manny Pacquiao on April 9.

The World Boxing Association’s light welterweight champion claimed on Monday that Michael Koncz, the adviser to the eight-division world champion, rang him up recently to discuss a possible fight with the Filipino ring icon.

Broner, who holds a 32-win, 2-loss slate with 23 knockouts, said he is very interested in the tiff.

“I hear they want me to fight Pacquiao next,” Broner, a four-division world champion, told FightHype.com. “Michael Koncz actually called me and we’re waiting to hear from him.

“If Pacquiao wants me to be his last fight, then I will do it.”

Broner disclosed the Pacquiao fight offer despite an earlier announcement by Floyd Mayweather Jr., who mentors the fighter from Cincinnati, that Broner would next clash with Ahsley Theophane.

“I would love to fight Theophane, because the buildup to the fight would be so big,” said Broner.

The 35-year-old Theophane (39-6-1, 11 KOs), however, isn’t a pay-per-view attraction while Pacquiao would guarantee Broner the biggest paycheck of his career.

Reached for comment, Koncz told the Inquirer Tuesday that he was in a meeting and would not answer any media queries on any topic until the holidays are over.

Promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank is still waiting for Pacquiao’s choice as his opponent in what could be his last fight.

The 84-year-old Arum is leaning on either Terence Crawford or Tim Bradley due to the fact that he also promotes both fighters.
