San Sebastian thwarts JRU sans Gorayeb

SAN SEBASTIAN College bucked the absence of coach Roger Gorayeb as it downed Jose Rizal University, 25-12, 25-16, 26-24, last Sunday to move a step closer to the Final Four in the women’s division of the 91st NCAA volleyball tournament at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Grethcel Soltones unloaded a match-best 21 hits, including 18 on spikes, as the Lady Stags nailed their sixth straight win in as many outings, one win away from clinching the first semis spot.

“We just executed the same game plan coach (Gorayeb) wants us to do,” said San Sebastian assistant coach Clint Malazo in Filipino.
The Lady Bombers fell to 3-4 (win-loss).
