Suguitan, Estrella enter KoS roster of champs
PAUL Suguitan bested Jessie Leonarez and Ryan Magbutay to rule the P300,000-event, while J .C. Estrella thwarted Bruce Pabilaran and Jay-R Villanueva to top the P200,000-competition in King of Sports Open poker tournaments at KoS Resto Bar, Pacific Century Tower in Quezon Ave., Quezon City, recently.
Suguitan emerged as the winner in the three-day competition, which lured 128 players—37 on the first day, 31 on the second day and 60 on the final day.
Earlier, Estrella stamped his class in the three-day, P200, 000-event which attracted 123 participants.
Article continues after this advertisementThe wins enabled both Suguitan and Estrella to join KoS roster of champions that also included Emong Sevilla, Domingo “Magic” Ylanan, Bing Soriano, Rey “Bagyo” Osete, Venoni “Bong” Paltep Jr., Rommel Angeles, Christopher Carabido, Michael de Leon, Robert Panlilio, Eman Segismundo, Maxwell Rosete, Shin Kyun Choi of Korea, R. R. Noquiz. Chuck Peregrino and Howard Lee. .
The final event for the year is the P500,000-event which started with the first day of elimination last Dec. 26. The championship is on Dec. 30.
Meanwhile, King of Sports will welcome 2016 with a lucrative schedule which has a total guaranteed cash prizes of P2.5M.
KoS general manager Mike Mariano said the series will kick off with a P150,000-GTD on Jan. 2 and 3 and P200,000-event on Jan. 4 to 7.
Article continues after this advertisementThe biggest cash prize that will be up for grabs will be P1M—a six-day event scheduled on Jan . 22 to 26 (eliminations) and Jan . 27 (final day).
All tournaments will start at 3 p.m. with free meal for every seated player.
King of Sports, which is duly supervised by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor), also features e-games, billiards and live entertainment.
