Lady Pirates try to stay in semis hunt

Lyceum tackles San Beda College as it guns to stay on course for a first Final Four appearance at the resumption of the 91st NCAA volleyball tournament at Filoil Flying V Arena Monday.

The Lady Pirates are coming off a 25-18, 20-25, 15-25, 25-14, 11-15 loss to the Perpetual Help Lady Altas last Dec. 18 before the league went on a break.

Lyceum coach Emil Lontoc said they have a chance to gain at least the No. 4 spot if they sweep their last two elimination-round outings, including Monday’smatch against San Beda (2-5).

Unbeaten San Sebastian College paces the women’s division with six wins while defending champion Arellano University and St. Benilde follow with 6-1 and 5-1 marks, respectively.

Lyceum and San Beda also collide in the men’s side, with the Red Lions eyeing to get out of a two-way tie at fourth spot with Arellano at 4-3.

Perpetual shows the way with a 6-0 card and likewise paces juniors’ play at 4-0, while Emilio Aguinaldo College (4-1) occupies second place.
