Fajardo tops BPC race thru PBA PH Cup quarterfinals

San Miguel Beer’s June Mar Fajardo is on pace to snare his third straight Philippine Cup Best Player of the Conference award after topping the statistical points race at the end of the quarterfinals.

Buoyed by another dominant eliminations outing, the Cebuano giant found himself in first with 45.6 average statistical points (SPs). Fajardo is averaging 23.1 points, 14.36 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, and 1.6 assists this conference.

In close second is his longtime rival is Barangay Ginebra’s Greg Slaughter, who is leading the league in scoring with 22.7 points and rebounding with 14.38 boards per game. The 7-foot Slaughter is also norming 1.4 blocks per outing to garner 43.2 SPs.

Rounding out the top five are GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle (38.1 SPs), and the NLEX duo of Sean Anthony (36.6 SPs) and Asi Taulava (35.5 SPs).

Barako Bull’s biggest revelation Willie Wilson finished in sixth with 35.17 SPs, followed by the league’s top-scorer Terrence Romeo of GlobalPort (35.15 SPs), Alaska workhorse Vic Manuel (33.7 SPs), Beermen forward Arwind Santos (32.55 SPs), and TNT spitfire guard Jayson Castro (32.54 SPs).

Second overall pick Troy Rosario of TNT, meanwhile, is led all rookies with 27.4 SPs, followed by his teammate and top pick Mo Tautuaa (22.8 SPs), Rain or Shine’s Maverick Ahanmisi (21.8 SPs), and a fourth-place tie for Mahindra’s Bradwyn Guinto and Meralco’s Chris Newsome (19.64 SPs).
