Mark Caguioa may have just made the biggest assist of his life and it wasn’t on the basketball court.
Caguioa, one of the best guards of his generation, granted a wish in time for the holiday season as he gave life to a dying Ginebra fan and his daughter.
A Rachel Ann Reglos-Lim took her plight to social media as she tirelessly did her best to make her dying father’s Christmas wish come true.
And the 2012 MVP responded in a video message greeting Lim’s dad, Gani, who is “on his last days due to chronic and heart failure.”
“Me and my family were too overwhelmed for the blessings that we received today for hi Truly the saying “Never Say Die” attitude runs in our blood. Thank you Mark Caguioa for that awesome video clip! [Bless] you for [you] have a kind heart!” Lim posted on her Facebook account.
The video message would’ve been enough, but Caguioa went for the extra mile as he made a surprise visit to the Lim
“An unexpected visitor! Answered prayer for Papa Gani! [Thank you] @officialMC47 for [your] kind heart! #wishgranted #agoodman,” together with the photo collage of the heartwarming meeting.
“Who would have thought that after the video clips sent to me for Papa Gani, a man [will visit] us all the way here in Batangas just to see and meet him. Papa Gani was in [shock] and kept on blinking his eyes just to make sure that [it’s] the real Mark Caguioa! We are truly thankful Sir for what you did to my father. You are not just the best when it comes to basketball, but you are also a very kind man granting a diehard fan’s wish. This moment will never be forgotten. In our hearts. More power on the next season game and rest assured that the whole family will always support you and the whole Barangay Ginebra Team!”
Ginebra bowed out in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup, but for Caguioa, a life-changing experience for his fans like this one is worth more than any of his accolades combined.
